Now Playing
The Great War (2019)
This is the worst war movie I have seen this year.
After the trauma bath that was The Killing of a Sacred Deer, I needed to dive into something a little more uplifting…like a film about the Great War (or for those keeping score, WWI).
This movie left me feeling like traveling back in time to take Archduke Ferdinand’s place.
Ok, ok…was it really that bad?
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
Ok…I get it…Iphigenia…But Eww…
A few disclaimers up front:
Killing isn’t quite “Now Playing,” but it is playing now on NETFLIX and was a special request by The Divine Ms. Maggie on our Facebook sister site. This review will also include some fairly big spoilers. We try to avoid those, but without them this movie will probably leave you confused and wanting to take a six-hour Clorox bath.
The Invisible Man (2020)

Ok…can you even spoil a movie with a name like the Invisible Man? I mean come on. If you go to a film with a title like The Wolfman or Dracula the shocker would be no Rover or tuxedoed bats. The Invisible Man is a movie about a guy who is invisible. Don’t be shocked…well…unless you were expecting to see a 2020 adaptation of Ellison’s great 1952 book, The Invisible Man. In that case I’m with you.
It isn’t Ellison.
What it is is the latest version of the H.G. Wells classic story about a guy named Griffin who is….
Welcome to BMB!
We love movies.
Some are great. Some are godawful. But all take us to another place.
They make us laugh and cry. They inspire us, anger us, make jump in our seat, and give us an excuse to hold hands.
Big Movie Blog explores the big, big world of movies by looking at films in the theaters today and blowing the dust off classics - good and bad - from over the years.
We aren’t film students or cinema historians. We are just like you: people who like good…and sometimes not so good movies.
Our goals is to have fun. Let’s settle in, watch a few movies, enjoy some popcorn, and talk.
