Trust (2020)
Bright Man, Bright Future
Can He Trust Himself Today?
He’s a Criminal
Up for a 20 minute movie?
Trust is a short film, written, directed by, and starring Cush Berlyn. The film (which is teased as the first in a series) is not long, but has a ton packed into it.
The short (because what else could it be) story is that Cush plays Aaron, a smart, really charming, but not terribly reliable young criminal in London. His day is split between a not so good drug deal, a romantic hook up with Laura Nicole (Corner Shop: Zombies on the High Street) , a tough conversation with his girlfriend (not the hook up), and a cliffhanger that had me replay the last scene four times to make sure I knew what I was seeing.
Trust is a solid first effort, with some clever effects (particularly the way that Berlyn ties texting into the story - it is very cool visually and highlights how integrated our physical and virtual lives have become). I’ll check out Trust 2 when it comes out.
In the meantime, you can catch Trust HERE.
