This is a cool movie.

Based on the Andy Weir book, The Martian is Home Alone in Space: “Honey…I think we forgot one of our botanists when we took off…”

It’s also great fun for science nerds, fans of “realistic” sci-fi, people who dig great visuals (most of the external shots were filmed in Jordan), and anyone who could use a great feel good movie to lighten their week.

A bit of trivia: As one of the astronauts (Sebastian Stan - Avengers: Infinity War) prepares for a dangerous outing, another (Kate Mara - Fantastic Four) cautions him to be careful because “In space…” - a cool nod to the tagline in Alien (“In space no one can hear you scream”). Not geeky enough? Alien and The Martian were both directed by Ridley Scott.
